Parruppu Kuzhambu
Dal curry / parruppu kuzhambhu is a good protein rich dish. Dal curry can be prepared using different dals. Also it can be prepared in different ways. This is a kerala style parruppu curry.

Ingredients
- Oil - 2tsp
- Mustard - 1/2tsp
- Urad dal - 1/2tsp
- Red Dry Chilly - 3
- Curry leaves - few
- Toor Dal - 1/2Cup
- Green Chilly - 3
- Garlic - 1Pod
- Cumin Seeds - 1/2tsp
- Turmeric -1/2tsp
- Shallot - 1
- Coconut - 1/2cup
- Salt - As required
- Water - 1+1 cups
Method
- Cook the dal in the pressure cooker by adding 1 cup of water for 3 whistles.
- Grind the green chilly, garlic, cumin seeds, turmeric, shallot and coconut into a smooth paste by adding little water.
- Mash the cooked dal and add the prepared paste to it.
- Now add 1 cup of water and sprinkle salt as per your taste.
- Bring it to boil for 10mins.
- Heat 1tsp of oil in a pan and add mustard. When it splutters add urad dal, red chilly and curry leaves.
- Pour it into the dal.
- Now the dal curry is ready to serve.
Step by step instruction :
- Wash the dal. Add it in pressure cooker.
- Add 1cup of water
- Cook for 3 whistles
- Grind the ingredients into smooth paste
- Mash the dal
- Add the ground paste
- Add 1cup of water
- Add salt and boil it
- In a pan add mustard, curry leaves, red chilly in oil for tempering
- Pour it to the dal and serve
